I am bilingual in English and French with also some knowledge of Spanish and Farsi. I love learning and speaking in new languages.
Currently, I am working in Real Estate in Alberta and also in the United Arab Emirates. Prior to that I was a flight attendant for our national airline, Air Canada. I also used to teach Japanese exchange students who came to Calgary to learn English and I really enjoyed taking the students on field trips to various locations around Calgary and in the Rocky Mountains.
The hobbies I most enjoy are reading, hiking, playing the piano, snowboarding, shopping, jogging, walking my dog and spending time with friends.
I really look forward to meeting all of the new students online and assisting you in your desire to learn and master a new language. I sincerely hope I can be of assistance to you in your studies and will do all I can to help you learn.

Recently I participated in a social theatre project that took place in a rural village in India. I have a love of learning about new cultures and meeting people from foreign countries. In my spare time I enjoy playing soccer with my friends and especially socializing both with people I know and with people I've never met. I enjoy meeting new people. こんにちは! Hello! My name is Leah Wiens and I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I am a university student studying the Japanese language. I am currently starting my third year. I want to become a Japanese translator or interpreter one day, and I love sharing my own culture and learning about other cultures. This year I am also starting to learn basic Chinese (Mandarin) and basic German. I am currently taking a kickboxing (muay thai) martial arts class, and in my spare time I love to read, go to movies, go to the beach, go for walks or to the park, and spend time with my friends. I love talking about almost anything -- Canadian culture and multiculturalism, cooking, current events, environmental and political issues, music, North American pop culture, technology, travel, literature, and I would love for you to tell me all about Japan too! I have been to places in B.C., Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario, and Montreal, and I went to Grand Forks, North Dakota once. I would like to see more of the world, and I really want to go to Europe and Japan. I don't have any formal English teaching experience, but I have spent over a year helping several Japanese exchange students with their English while they stayed in Manitoba! I'm excited to meet you and learn all about you, and I look forward to our lesson!

My most admired person is my 75 year old grandmother. She the strongest woman I have ever met.
My most memorable trip was to Honduras, Central America, early 2008. I trekked through the jungle, experienced whitewater rafting, in class 4 rapids and received 1-on-1 Spanish language classes.
Thank you for taking the time to read my self-introduction.
Enough about me, I hope to learn more about you. :)
